This is a late-Qing (1904) presentation-grade Duan inkstone made for the Imperial Guangdong Salt Administration. The combination of top-quality Duan stone, extremely fine carving, and multicolored treasure-inlay makes it a very high-end collector’s piece from the very end of the imperial era. Today these are highly sought after by inkstone and Chinese scholar-object collectors.
