Chinese jade carving of a pair lions
Two lions (or lion-like mythical beasts) in a playful, intertwined/recumbent pose—one atop the other, forming a compact, dynamic composition. The upper lion has a fierce yet stylized face (bulging eyes, curly mane, open mouth with teeth), while the lower one curls around with flowing tail and limbs. Both have detailed carving, classic auspicious symbol for protection, power, and harmony.
Rounded, plump bodies with exaggerated manes and no prominent wings/horns (distinguishing from bixie/pixiu). The interlocking pose (one lion "riding" or embracing the other) is common in Qing jade lions, symbolizing marital harmony, family unity, or "lion cubs playing" playful guardian energy). Exquisite openwork/cloud carving adds elegance.
