Dark grayish or brownish-gray jade (possibly gray nephrite or with natural patina/oxidation), giving a muted, antique appearance with subtle luster and faint natural veining/cracks—typical of aged pieces rather than bright modern jade. The surface has a soft polish with some wear marks, suggesting age or handling.
The figure stands or crouches on short, sturdy legs with clawed feet (bird-like talons). The body is compact and rounded (plump belly, short tail implied), transitioning upward into a tall, pointed/helmet-shaped crest or headpiece. The head features a sharp beak (eagle-like or hooked), round eyes, and the crest is decorated with incised geometric patterns
